I'm sure most are aware whats happening in my home town of Houston. I'm looking at purchasing a M923A2. Checking transportation and have been quoted $8.00 per mile. This sounds high or is that the going rate? Any recommendations appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

Way too high. $2.00/mile for 1/2 a step deck is more like it. Call Joey at United States of Freight. Truckers love to come to Houston because getting a load out of here is like taking candy from a baby.

1.75 to 2.20 a mile is standard right now as long as it is not coming out of the north east.

Sounds like a sad case of price gouging due to the circumstances. That guy would probably try to get the same rate hauling a box truck full of bottled water into that area.

See if you can contact Landstar directly. I know a few of their drivers that have a hard time finding backhauls out of Miami. They may give you a killer deal on a truck sitting idle.
