Trouble cross referencing glow plug relay

Hello All,

Our M1028 truck was recently inspected for the year at the fire company and the mechanic said the glow plug relay was bad. He said they are about 30.00 but told us we could install it ourselves to save on costs. He did not give any type of part number. I tried cross referencing the numbers but I am coming up short and can not find a replacement at Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts or Napa. Does anyone have the correct cross reference part? I kept looking it up last night but everything says does not fit your vehicle. I have highlighted the part I need from the technical manual.

Thanks in advance.

I feel we'd be remiss if we did not mention in this thread that the correct relay has an isolated ground.

Not all relays are this way and they do look alike.

Test whatever you get before installing it. Use an ohm meter or continuity tester and be sure there is no continuity(connection) between the outside case(and mounting tabs) to either of the small lugs.

If you install the wrong relay, you could end up energizing your glow-plugs continuously and burn them out.

Thanks, Could this be why when I saw a guy putting one of these on a 1009 on youtube use a manual push button with a rounded relay?

Just an update, it was not the glow plug relay. We got our local AutoZone to donate AC Delco glow plugs for us and we changed them out, the truck starts fine. Thank-you to everyone for the help with this!
