Hey all,

Working on an M1009.

Hoping someone can steer me in the right dirction. Im trying to find part number 14067762 the rear propeller shaft. I can find the front shaft all day but no where have I been able to locate the rear. It dropped on me while driving on Monday I know why truely my own stupidity..... late summer I used it to remove some small-ish stumps and got sand in the u jonts and could never get it out which made them noisy and just not in good shape. the shaft broke at the front u joint and of course broke the u joint. trying to find whole assembly.... anyone have any ideas on where to look.. Ive looked at all the regular supply houses and from reading other threads have determined that I caqn use one off a regular K5 but cant find one of those either.. Help, please!!!! thanks

Wow, I have never heard of a k5 with a propeller on it- how does it do in the water? Can you post some pictures? Also you should never use a propeller shaft to remove stumps.

Now if you need a new drive shaft repaired you need to find a drive line specialist in your area and have it repaired, it will probably cost less than a new one. If you can't find one try a off road shop for their recommendation of a local shop.

Did you try the local junk yards or Craigslist searching K5 or Blazer? I will often frequent CL for used drive shafts for these as you never know when you will get a M1009 with a bent one. This is because it is cheaper over getting it rebuilt at a drive shaft shop, but that is the place to got get them fixed.

Thanks porkyplace.... I'll start making some calls. I was able to get a quote from WB parts $803 that sounds so high.. would like to see if I can fix this one..
Call them back and tell them to go pound sand, that is freaking ridiculously over priced and have never seen such BS for a drive shaft. I had mine rebuild with two new u-joints for just under $200, but I do not recall the exact cost. As long as you have the front and rear sections and they are complete, the drive shaft can be re-tubed. This is how they extend them for lift kits. I have a spare one that was used on a 4" lift if I ever wanted to do that to my M1009.

I pulled about 30 stumps with a thick chain and a stump grubber. small 4" to 6" cherry stumps did a real good job to be honest but stupid. The tractor was broke down 53 ford 9n so i really wanted them out of my hay field so i got stupid and used my beloved M1009... Yeah, i'm really pissed with myself! choke cherry trees are poisonous to goats and the stumps dont die just start regrowing...... darn things gave me the worst time with my goats last year so went on a crazed removal campaign... lost that battle but im still fighting the cherry tree war! OK i know it all sounds stupid but i lost most my kids last year to the yellowing leaves...

I have all the peices but the shaft itself where it holds the front u joint is broke completely on both sides or both rings that would hold the u joint.. but I have all the parts that are left :) had to take a drive back down the road to find the slip on yoke assembly.....

WB Parts supplies goods to the gooberment. I can beleive a new driveshaft would cost $800.
