Tubes required for super singles?

ok so i have been searching for a couple days now and i quess im not very good at it. My question is when you run 395/85/20 michelin XML tires on stock deuce wheels do i need to use tubes??? i havent heard anyone mention tubes? my tires come in friday and i want to get them mounted this weekend but im a new to all of this. I know you are suppose to flip the hubs but i cant find any write ups with pics for swapping super singles with the duals on stock wheels. i ordered 6 new valve stems from C&C to go with the swap is there anything else i need to know to do this swap?

on the stock wheels you will need tubes

Yes you will need to run tubes on a stock split rim, I believe the 11.0 x 20 tube and liner should work.

you can only have a tubeles tire on a tubeless wheel.
the stock wheels have no provisions for the tubeless valve stem

on another note that is a bit big of a tire to be running on stock rims

not saying you can't do it

just saying it's not really a good idea

the max tire size for a stock wheel is 12.00X 20.

Others have done it though.

you will need a bigger tube then an 11.00 X 20.
the 11.00 X 20 are 39 inches tall.

I beleive your tires are 43 inche tall?? too different you will need a larger size. you can strech a tube one size in gerenal that is way too differnet even for a bad idea.

Like my pappa used to tell me, do it right or don't do it at all. All it will take to ruin this hobby of ours is one good accident that gets someone killed due to faulty modifications. There are a bunch of places to get the correct rims for those tires fairly cheap. I know I have seen them on ebay for about $50 each, and if you were to buy 6, I'm sure they would work out a deal. While the stock rims might work if you hold yer mouth just right, why go through all the work of mounting them only to have to re-do it when you finally get tired of the wheels looking too narrow for those nice tires? Like I said, it will only take one accident to get all kinds of restrictions passed on our trucks. Do it right, or don't do it at all!

Plenty people run this setup I see it all day, if you have a link for 50 dollar rims than please enlighten me. What size wheels are neccesary for this size tire?

Are there other options for safe wheels without paying the redicilous $400 price tag from Easter surplus and others?

Do you already have these tires? or they something you are thinking about getting.
I went with the 11.0 x 20 this is a safe size for that rim Plenty of info on the Hub flip.

They are in route from c&c so yeah stuck with them. How much did you pay for your rims? Can you send me a link for flipping the hubs? I will admit I am trying to get out of spending extra money, so the use of the stock wheels appeals to me. However if I can find some one peice wheels for a good price I would go that route. Are there other wheels from other types of vehicles we can run say from a dump truck or something I could find in a junkyard somewhere? I would rather run one peice wheels but I'm not payig more than 100 a wheel when I can use stock rims.

I found them on ebay a few months ago. They were used and nothing fancy, but they were the correct width, which is important enough to keep tire shops from installing too wide of tire on too narrow of rim for liability reasons. Do whatever you want, but if the very first time this setup you speak of fails happens to be on your rig, and it happens to be when you really need to have control of the vehicle, I'll be sure to remind you I told you so.
I know I don't take any chances with a 14k-pound truck on the highway. All 5 of my deuces are stock, but I do plan on bobbing a couple of them later and putting 8" lifts on them with 53" tires, but that will be done with the utmost care to do it correctly. Matter of fact, a very well-known off-road specialty shop is designing the lift kits for me, and will be bending most of the parts on a brake press rather than welding two pieces together since a bend is stronger than a weld.

The stock rims will work fine for your 395s.

Be sure you use radial tubes in radial tires.....Regular tubes will blow......DAS

I had Longs Wheels in Jacksonville FL [ check their website-very impressive; ask for CJ for design help] build me some 11x20 custom wheels for my 14x20 XL tires; they are one piece rims that I had them drill 12 holes around the perimeter so I can add "fake" bolts and nuts to simulate 2 pc wheels [I like that look]
They are costing me 208.00 ea + shipping [85.00 total for 4]
I felt like this is a great "compromise" price--Not the 300.00+ that most people want, but not the standard too narrow rim that could cause serious problems later.

i have 395's on the stock rim on mine, and they are GREAT!! you will need 14.00x20 tubes though... and just so you know mounting them will KICK YOUR A$$!!!
