turning up the injection pump question

is the baseball diamond thing the cover plate below where it says stanadyne in jags post...(2 bolts hold it on)? How do you know if someone else has turned it up, is there some noticable quality of the engine that is bad, without knowing EGT's.... and should I aquire a gasket for this for re-installation of that cover? Thanks

btw, If the throttle is mashed than a LITTLE black smoke is all that shows up, dissappears about 2' out of the pipe. Does that resemble a turned up pump or stock?

Is fuel going to come out when you remove the plate on the side?

Yeah a little fuel dribbles out, just maintain a high idle until the air gets punched out.

My truck runs great.

Of course, I would love to get more power out of her. Will the IP adjustment create a noticeable power increase? Are there any negative effects of doing so? Does a How To with pictures exist for this?

And back to my initial statement - Should I just leave well enough alone?

I would do it the way the top 2 pics show, going in through the govenor could end ugly if you forget to put something back
