The Alaska Territorial Cavalry (Motorized) is offering two-half tracks.
These are parts vehicles or could be restored with plenty of parts.

#1 offers:

Engine and drive train
Used radiator
Two NEW front tires w/sandblasted, primed and painted rims
One spare used track
PTO on transmission
$2,000.00 OBO

#2 offers:

Trans/transfer
Pintle
Drive axle /w wheels/sprockets
Bogie sets
One and 1/2 rear idler sets
Front fenders
Front body armor, engine armor missing
Front axle w/tires and early style rims (No drive flanges)
One set NOS tracks
Large winch w/cable
No engine/radiator
$1,000.00 OBO

Both for $2,500.00 OBO

Here is an oppurtunity for someone restoring a half-track.

NOTICE: I will delete the posting if someone complains.

The half-tracks are in Alaska. Just a short drive away!!
To me a half-track is a half-track. You would want to contact them on-line for more info. The price is more then right for whats left. (You have to remember, a McDonalds burger is something like $3. -- $4. in Alaska so $2,000. OBO in Alaska is a GOOD price !!

...cost analysis...

Let's see....about 4,500 mi. one way..9k total= $2K in diesel. Wide-load permits for 15 states= $550-$600. About 2-wks drive time and lost business=$2K. Nope...not very cost effective for this trip...LOL....

side note...

My M172A1 25-ton trailer...long enough for 2-tracks...requires a wide load permit as it is 9'7" wide. Picked up my 1943 White M16 track in WI with it in Nov 2010.
