In the worse case scenario I can't find a semi local shop to shoot my HMMWV, I bought 2 gallons of Tan686 Mil-DTL-53039E Type IX Coating Aliphatic PU.
I google the Mil-DTL-53039E, all I get is beta beta prime chloro ethyl ether nonsense.
I Ass/U/Me Type IX is POLYURETHANE based?
And for thinning, I should use Xylene to thin it?
Is there a hardener additive I can use to decrease cure time?
And what is recommended for priming bare metal areas left from spot sanding rust?
Potential applicator will be the Purple China Freight HVLP paint gun, N95 mask with hood, electric fan drawing contaminated air out of the garage.
Does PU paint keep in the refrigerator?
I'm going to try to bribe my brother with some Woodford Reserve to shoot the truck after it is prepped, then I clean the equipment. He has a clear glass skull decanter repurposed from some other spirit that he keeps filled with Woodford for special visitors, the skull is named Chester (after Chester Copperpot the Pirate from Goonies)
