unusual 1940's MB hardtop assy

All are of the same jeep .. Note rivets and other features, doesn't fit so well around the lower front door openings .. Perhaps homemade? What do you think?

Note: the edges along the bottom and windows seem irregular .. anyway,,, home-built or not?

I have never seen it with his things.. Perhaps he souvenired it when he went home
