I bought a US Coast Guard SPC SW boat on the GSA site out of New Orleans. I run a Tow Boat U.S. fleet in Texas and I haven’t begun the repower yet. I was looking at twin Yamaha f150xc the quote was $38,000 no controls and not installed. I thought about reaching out to Metal Shark as I’d like to get ideas about painting the wing collar and some repairs. How is the performance out of yours with 225s. I won’t be on that big of lake so 300hp is probably plenty. Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

CptMikeyM88,
I worked 35 years as a state wildlife and boating officer. I've towed hundeds of boats, all sizes, with a 150. After I retired I served as Sheriff for 8 years. We had a patrol boat with a 225 Honda, even better tow boat. If it were my boat I'd get the biggest single outboard I could find. As you already know , I think someone makes a four stroke 400hp. Twin motors are nice, but double the maintenance. I would definitely get 4 stroke. Of course if you're going offshore you may want the twins for a "backup" outboard. Good luck with your choice. After all that time with boats, I only own one boat. My dads 1963 14ft. F model Alumacraft, hasn't been in the water since 2004. It's the one I learned to operate a boat with at about the age of 12.
