vent window repair

Being southern raised, it was a major problem for me when I opened my vent window for the first time, and had to grab it before it fell out. Usual malady: broken pin.
So here's the steps I went thru, assisted by plenty of beer:

The broken pin, well soaked with Kroil- and the hole in the bottom of the window frame-

Soaking the pin in body prep (phosphoric acid- poor man's parkerizing)
Welded the pin back onto the frame- notice anything wrong?

Here we go- pin's at the proper angle and rewelded.
Notice I was able to reuse the hinge rivet, by tapping it to 4-40 and using a cheese head screw.

soaking the tension spring and related hardware in body prep. If you're more patient than me, wire brush them good,
then let them soak long enough and you'll have a nice gray finish.

Finished job- I brushed and sanded, then painted with Loctite Extend, and top coated with self-etching black paint.
