Replaced VIN TAGS....

Is is a common thing to replace both metal VIN Tags on a military vehicle? You did this one for me but after starting to work on the truck I located another VIN DECAL under the hood which I belive is the correct VIN as I can see that both the door plate and the dash plate have been replaced and re-rivoted in place. I know this is illegal in NJ where I'm a cop. Can you run this VIN and see what comes up please? VIN : 1G8ED18J0EF200968 that was under the hood and the glove box VIN was VIN: 1G8ED18J6FF137182. THANX FOR ANY HELP

Two of your numbers come from the same unit and the other is from a depot fromr most likely a rebuild or repair.

As for the number change...the military does not change SN's. Registration numbers can change on very, very rare occasions but not SN's. Most likely someone did something stupid and changed something either intentionally or unintenionally. Not sure, if the VIN number is on the dash--as in on the removeable dash vinyl?? As you know, the VIN on the frame is the ultimate proof. I would locate that one and hope it will match one of the others. Hopefully the SF97 matches the frame.

Took me some digging for this one. The Reg # you have listed is wrong. The unit only put in part of the SN. Had to dig through 3500 records to find it. Wow, glad that's over with.

Didn't think I was going to find this but I'm pretty sure this is your's. You need to find the first three digits of the VIN to be sure since some of these trucks started with different first 3 digits. This is the only one I found with 10388 though and it was based at Ft Hood.

Medlog, would love some info on my new truck.

General Products Division

04G33871 0539-11438

2320-00-077-1617

Was this Rebuilt? The first part doesn't match anything on the MV decoding article.

I can barely make out this on the door (painted over) 4G6813 The original Reg number?

3-81 was painted on the door, they even left the stencil under the seat.

Purchased from Ft. McCoy, WI Auction end date: 7/24/08

Donation coming next paycheck!
