Warn industrial 18 series winch

Has anyone successfully mounted a warn industrial 18 series winches on a HMMWV?

They are sold as MRAP wenches. Dimensionally I'm not sure if they will fit or not. Does anyone have any input?

The electric winches I got off hmmvws are much smaller than the 18k winches I have seen, but that doesn't mean its impossible.

Those 18K lb winches are pretty big..... I just put one on the rear of my M35A2C for self recovery and pulling dead vehicles onto trailers.

I'm not sure how you'd get it on a HMMWV and make it look normal.

The MRAP winches use a 18,000 lb with a long drum.
The HMMWV USE A 12,000 lbs with a short drum.
The 18,000 will not work on the HMMWV as is comes off the MRAP.
If you change it to a short drum it will work. If not it will be about 3" to wide.

I have one of those Mrap winches....its about 22 1/2" wide and looks like the Hmmwv 9K winch at 22 1/2 " wide also except the relay box is different.

Does the relay box make it wider? If so can you remote mount the relays. I like the simplicity of the electric setup. I had a 12k winch but it has disappeared.

My 9k...you can un-clamp the relay box.
The 12 or 18 k box is molded to the motor.

This one yard I get stuff at has about 8 Mrap winches laying around....I'll have to look at them.

Yes, Several Fire Departments use them on their hmmwv. They just made a push bumper to mount it on. Very simple for what is needed and cheaper than buying an new series 12.
