WD40 paint refresh

I mentioned this is the paint section but thought I'd post here as well. The paint on my M998 was looking faded, almost chaulky in places. Somebody in the paint section mentioned he heard spraying it down with WD40 will give it a fresh look. I gave it a shot and it works miracles. I'm not sure if the picture does a good job showing the improvement but in person it is significant. Basically sprayed it down with WD40, let it sit overnight and wiped it down. Had a light WD40 smell for a day but that has gone away. Not sure how long it will last.

Pledge works much better. Soft bristle brush and pledge. It dries and the colors are much more vibrant, and the sun faded green matches the green that has not been subjected to the sun. Smells like lemons !
Takes two cans. Works wonders on clean tires too. Not shiney like Armorall.
WD40 the engine, trans, transfer, frame, etc.

Not sure how long it lasts, supposedly months. Will let you know. Dust doesn't stick to it. No oily residue on it. I had tried armor all and it lasted about 4 days.

All this works great until you actually need to paint it; then you are screwed trying to remove all these solvents to prevent paint issues...

The pleasant aromatic discharge of Johnson's Baby Oil is a turn on for most single women.

Applying diesel and other fluids has been does for years in the military to make them "parade ready"
its is mentioned in the CARC application TB or the CAMO TB, IIRC....it's say not to use diesel, brake fluid etc to enhance the paint, it's not authorized. But we used to do it all the time.

I'll second that. Even PPG DX440 and lots of scrubbing had trouble lifting up thick grease residue I had in one of my CARC trailer projects. Spilled gear oil from a can that tipped over in the bed.

A old machinery jocky trick was to spray a piece of equipment down with diesel fuel. It would make paint shine like new money, until the dust blew up and stuck all over it.

As much as I like the WD40 smell I am looking forward to going the Pledge route once the WD40 fades. Come to think of it I'm going to start saving my bacon fat and use that.
