What did you do to your trailer today.

Made the 101A2 work today.

Went to the local rock place.

Needed a yard of decomposed granite for the beds.

I’m sure they see lots of ill equipped trailers attempt to haul away rocks, so he was easy on the dumping, which was nice of him.

When loaded, you could tell you didn’t want any more in it, but that this was probably going to be fine. Still plenty of room between the springs and the bumps. I have new electric brakes on this trailer and new bearings as well.

As a side note, The tires had 20 psi and seemed quite happy at that pressure.

Where did you get the brake kit from.

eTrailer has them. Best I can tell they are for standard 12” drums with 5 bolt backing plate, because the same ones that fit the 1101/2 fit the 101A2/A3 too, and they gave me other options that fit the same drum. Here are the Dexter part numbers for the ones with a parking brake lever. You will have to manufacture your own handrake cable attachment method.

Yes, this would work for 101A2, A3 or a 1101 or 1102. Here are three options from eTrailer.

The top one is eTrailer brand, made by Dexter, no parking brake, middle one is with the parking brake lever, bottom is Dexter brand.

How difficult is it to get military trucks and trailers down under?

Not difficult at all, I've not had any problems, not one in getting anything here.

Its just that getting anything undamaged because of rough handling is another issue.

I just got my M105A2 delivered, looks like its been pushed around with a forklift, there are gouges in it and a data plate has been ripped and the connecting cable has been torn in half!

Now I'll need to get another data plate and connecting cable!

Wanna know how angry I am right now!!!

Oh and my Tow bar for my Deuce is in the back of the trailer, at least the crate is there, I have yet to inspect that.

Luckily, easy to replace and plenty around. I too have a couple. Just another PITA!

Picked up an M1082 trailer. Hadn't planned on buying one but it was there, for a good deal, and I needed some temporary mobile storage until I get something more permanent built. It's currently got G177 tires on there with split ring wheels. It'll have the proper tires and wheels on there soon enough. Everything else is in perfect shape except for the upper sway bar bushings. Which leads me to a question...

I see some urethane upper sway bar bushings on Ebay for the LMTV. I'd prefer urethane over rubber but does the M1082 and LMTV use the same upper sway bar bushings?

Dusting and Cleaning

Gave the inside a good dusting and cleaning after sitting all winter.

Looks like an Engel MT-45 in the corner? Those things are pretty incredible. I pulled the seats out of my 923A2 in Idaho and bolted one down between the new bucket seats in the center of the cab. Just barely fit. It was forced to take every single bump and vibration for 1600 miles as we took the scenic route from Idaho to Texas. Never seemed to bother it.

Talk about torture testing a fridge. Good choice!

That indeed is a MT45F unit!

I have it running on a 24 VDC battery system or 120VAC when connected to a shore line. It works very well and draws very little current. On the hottest of days during the RT66 Convoy, the unit ran for 2-3 minutes in a 15 min span. When parked for 3 days the batteries were still going strong. Engel products are not inexpensive but they seem to built very well. Quality items do cost a little more.

I hit a tree East of the Moyowasi in Tanzania in a Toyota Land Cruiser truck in 2005. There was a 1980’s vintage Engel fridge in the bed of the truck.

They still use the old glass Coke and Fanta returnable/exchangeable bottles there to this day. Heavy duty bottles.

There were broken bottles in the fridge, broken ribs in the trackers, smashed the bejebers out of the front end, but the 25 year old Engel fridge, still running.

That sold me.

Today I went outside to unload my M105A2, I took the tow bar out and put it into my workshop.

Darn that thing has some weight to it,....

Also had fun lowering the rear leg, works great.

Anyway, yesterday I did a preliminary wash on the front half of the trailer, you can see the difference in how I got it to how clean it is after just a first wash.




Also I have a couple of numbers on the drawbar that are NOT on any of the data plates,..

What are these trailer serial number?




And the second number a bit further along,....




I'm going to get new data plates and want the correct numbers on them,...
