What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

bought a M52 with the MF, but im deployed. So she sits next to the barn patiently waiting for me to come home in march..so sad

at some point someone has put a flatbed on the back of her.. hmmmm, not a bad idea. thinking maybe i can somehow modify that to some sort of rollback or PLL system, would make loading a vehicle or heavy cargo sooo much easier.

I didn't do it "to" my 5-ton but I used my 5-ton to do it. Was doing some off-road trail riding and happened upon an F-350 frozen in a 3' hole. Put the winch line around the front axle and backed up about 20' to yank it out. Then drove threw the hole he was stuck in like it was nothing, without locking the front axles. The power of these trucks is great.

I found out the hard way that the fuel gauge is not accurate. Ran it couple days ago and ran great. Had it running for about half hour, used it to pull/tow/recover a guy stuck in about 8" mud (dually with 16' enclosed trailer).
Tried to start it the other night and no start. Cranked strong but not an ounce of smoke from the stack. Put in 10 gallons of diesel today and primed the pump. Started right up. Mental note: little below 1/4 tank means Empty.

I agree! I was lucky enough to have been parked at my g/f's parent's farm when it decided to no-start. Would not have been funny if I was deep in the woods.

Today started out in the teens. never got above freezing. Went out side to see if my guntruck would start. Turned on the master swithch. waited for acount of twenty put the preheater on and pumped the he-- out of it It cranked a few times, let it rest and repeated the process and she fired right up. truck hasn't started in a few weeks. I glad she fired up so I let it run to warm up and charge the batteries a little bit. Sadly, I have sold the truck and she is getting loaded out tomorrow. Phil Francis will be here early and we will load it on his Landau trailer for the trip to Rogersville Tenn. The new owner is Bud Whitehead. If you recognize the name,that is because Bud was the NCOIC on the original "Eve of Destruction". Bud is a true hero to all the truckers in the Eigth Group from VietNam, He is a good friend of mine and has got a lot of support from other VETs down that way so I'm sure He will enjoy the truck.

Fab'd Wrecker Ground Spade Clamp

Made a clamp for the M816 Wrecker ground spades to go on the front end of the boom. This is a weld on bracket that will be fitted in the spring then painted propper green.
