Splashed a bit of paint on the commuter vehicle over the weekend. Going for the "battleship grey" look. Behr paint, of course. Only a few hundred details to finish up!

We got about 2 feet of snow up at my place last week. Its melted down to about 1 foot now of heavy icy snow. I finally hiked up and got the dozer to plow the road open so I can get my truck down with a load of wood. I came down with 4 cord of wood before in the ice and it was not fun. I am at 8000' and need to drop down to 5200' in just a few miles. Its supposed to be 50* and sunny today so hopefully this afternoon I can drive it down. Its supposed to snow again tomorrow. Had some fresh bear track on my road. With the early snow wea re getting I figured he might be hungry.

This weekend I replaced the driver side front wheel boot, pulled everything apart to get the axle shaft out to clean all the sand that had got in there. To my suprise, the bearings were perfect, not polished or gnarled up at all.

Also while capping off the crappy tire inflation system, I found the rear most driver side rim leaking, so I pulled it off and repaired it. This was my first time working on it, I've only had it about a month. I had to buy 1 inch drive sockets and impact to get the wheels off. Big tools for big toys.

Your talking about a A2 right? I have 2 M923A2's and love my ability to lower the air pressure on the go. I've had no leak downs while the trucks set. I lower my air pressure when I'm on rough roads or when I'm off road in deep snow.

Sounds like my kind of place! I chain my front wheels up when there is the slightest bit of ice. I have had a "runaway" experience with one of my trucks on ice going down hill a few years back. I was picking up speed till I hit a snow bank and stopped me. Nice photos!

I didn't have much time this weekend due to my babysitting responsibilities while my wife was at work. I got the soft top repaired on one of the 923's. At least it's not wearing a tarp anymore.

Id like to have my ctis work right, but with everything filled up with water and crap, I don't see it working any time soon.

There are two kinds of folks whom drive the A2 series w/ the CTIS;

1- Those who have had a lot of trouble

AND

2- Those whom are going to have a lot of trouble.

(PS, Low to no mileage Mall cruisers do not count)

I would suggest it is an invaluable asset to have, I would LOVE it but dang, alls I hear is fixit stories.

Mine works wonders..... in the summer, starting last week with the new cold weather I started getting 5 stars, suggesting that a seal has shrunk(according to Spicers Diagnostic website), going to confirm that by taking her to a heated shop. Just this has made me thought off capping it off, Its real nice for a battle/war application, but we haven't had to many of those here, yet.

Like others have said its nice to show off and brag, but unless you HAVE a deadline and HAVE to go from highway to a river with a gumbo bed, there's no real need that a glad hand and some time wouldn't do. Well both see what happens to mine this winter.

Thats why I capped mine. One day ill make a manual tire inflation system with valves and gauges, but until then a glad hand hose will do all my inflation duties.

M923 - lubed the door windows and moved the mirror support frame out a bit. Where they had it set up, it would nick the paint on the doors, so have two rusty spots where they hit. It was nice opening up the doors to get to the window tracks and finding nice clean bright green. It looks like the doors must have been new at rebuild in 2006. This truck is painted desert with a very coarse finish. It makes it a bugger to wash, so started playing with doing a bit of wet sanding. It worked great and really smoothed up the finish. Lots of truck to sand, but that will help with the needed touch ups as well.

I can't remember which was which, but one took a 5/16 plug, and the other a 1/2 (front and back)

I put a plug in the outlet of the hub going to the wheel mounted ctis valve. The front wheels had to be pulled off to plug it up, but the rears didn't. Ill take pictures and post them this evening.
