A 2 1/4 in socket is needed to remove the Pinion nut. You can't move it with a hammer and drift. The flange popped right off with nothing but hand pressure and a little tap with the hammer.

The piece that hold the seal is nothing but a sheet metal cover. Don't hit it with a hammer. Pry it off. There's another part behind it that seals with the same bolts it can shift and possibly damage the gasket under it. I hope mine reseals. I also polished the shaft where the seal rides with emery cloth.

I moved my entire motor pool this past week, I put the M915A1 and M936A2 to work like they should be. Not THAT many photos but here's what the M915A1 pulled. I love this truck, it will smoke anything on the road MV wise.

Entered mine in the local Barnesville Pumpkin Festival parade. It was the only MV, but the spectaters were none the less excited. All of the children loved the truck as well as most adults. They had approximately 3000 spectators, which is a big crowd for these parts. My mom rode shotgun in her teal cowgirl attire. Pictures were at lineup. We got there early so parking the setup in the line wouldn't be so rough.

Forgot to mention what the MC said about the truck as it passed the largest section of the crowd near the giant pumpkin. The truck was the number two vehicle in line, out of over 100 vehicles, following only the police departments escorting and the color guard. I had a shipping sticker on the door when I got the truck saying what unit the truck was used by and it showed it was being shipped to Louisianna from Kuwait. Then google helped show what it did in Kuwait. Here's the quote, "1990 M929A2 Dump truck last served in Camp Buehring Kuwait with the Louisiana National Guard's 844th Engineer Company. It helped in the Liberation and Defense of Kuwait Cease-fire. Attached to it is a 2008 M1082 cargo trailer of which it's tours, if any, are unknown."

Did an emissions test on the M925A2 as required by my county, then called the county the truck actually is parked in, and found that there is not emissions requirement. I will transfer it next year. Found that the spare tire / muffler bracket was wiggling so much because of both loose bolts that they rounded off the bolts. Took them off and replaced. The truck was bouncy at 28-30, 42-ish and 50ish if I wasn't on the accelerator. Didn't take it over 55 today. Love the big guy.

Simp, was there any movement in the wheel or noticeable wiggle when the tie rod crapped out? I am getting a bit of marking on the steer tires, but think it's because I turned too tight. Any indication that would tell us the tie rods are going without popping them out?

You can take a pair of channel locks and grab the bottom of the tire rod and the lip on the knuckle and see if you have any play up and down. Also just twisting the tie rod bar. Some movement is normal but nothing stupid. Trust me you will feel the stupid unnatural movement. you may have some delay in steering at 40+mph. Like a slight movement and it does not turn. It may let the tires wobble a little more than usual as well.

Replaced the two upper torque rods with some new ones.











Replaced both front axle boots. No pictures because we all know what they look like.

Added a second map box behind the seat for some much needed storage space in the cab.



And a project I'm working on to have LED gauge backlighting using the original bulb sockets. Looks like the rest of the stuff won't be here until Monday though.

I've actually been trying to do something similar by making my own LED bulbs, but I really don't have the 'electrical experience'
to push through the project without concerns that I might ruin things. Are the bulbs in the last photo something you constructed,
or are they a purchased item? Wondering...

Thank you. This has been about 6 months in the making, with trying to find something that is "plug-n-play", with no modification to the wiring or bulb sockets. It actually looks like they will be here today so I should have them in tonight. If everything goes as planned I'll do a writeup in a separate thread that answers all the questions. I don't want to jump the gun if this happens to fail miserably.

I put my Pinion seal back together, blew the vent out, and checked the fluid level and it was a bit over full.

The other 2 axles were at the correct level but we're holding pressure. I cleaned and blew them out, but tomarrow I'll be replacing them all and doing a remote vent for them all.

Went to a charity event today and took the 5-ton and trailer. I just like the look of the trailer attached to the truck.

The only problem I have with it is that I am not used to maneuvering a short trailer with a long truck, so it tends to get away from me very quick. Makes backing down my tight driveway very entertaining.
The first time I did it, I kept having to readjust by pulling forward and straightening out, but of course, that's when everyone and their mother decided to drive down that road. Nothing like trying to drive down a road and a 5-ton truck is blocking your way.


Moving the trailer is a project in itself. I have to use the CUCV to move it off of the driveway and park it in front of the house. Then move the CUCV and attach the 5-ton.


Did this at night after work because it was too hot earlier, still sweated out like 10 pounds.

Got there to Qualcomm Stadium and they put me by the Semi's,
was the only true MV there, again ,

, but I don't really consider them military.

Saw this really cool show car there, awesome paint and graphics on it. Not really my flavor, but nice overall



I really like the last graphic, dark but cool looking.

Picked up some free parts today I'm not sure what military trailer they come off of . I know the wheel cylinders brake shoes and drums will fit the M52a2 and M131A5C tanker trailer . The man said he tried to take them to the land fill they refused because the tires where on rims he went to the scrap yard and was refused because the rims had tires on them . I winch it on and headed home .

I drove the snowplow Blazer down last fall and staged it to plow snow. The transmission wouldn't engage so it was parked all winter. Tried to start it this summer and the starter went out. So I finally got some free time and got a friend to steer it while I towed it back up several miles of single lane dirt road with the 5ton. I towed it up before with a full sized pickup and ended up spinning tires a lot to get it up the steep road. The 5 ton pulled it like it wasn't even there, hit 3rd gear in low range. The road is so bad that you can't go much faster. The Blazer with the snowplow was free from someone who had finally had enough of trying to live up on the mountain. I'll get it inside my shop and see if I can get it fixed before the snow gets too deep. I got stung by wasps several times today and quit working. As I was heading down it was starting to snow up on top, so hopefully I can get it done before winter.

I fully understand... especially the idea of... miserable fails!!!! LOL!! Seriously though... I've been 'messing around' with small,
LED inserts, but so far my test efforts have been... unsuccessful to this point. So... I'll be super interested to see what you've
been able to create, or put together!

Replaced all the lines going into the gondola, was tired of taking hydraulic showers. Installed the hose clamps after the pictures where taken.
