Reportedly the dog that tested positive in China has died as per mainland China news outlets.
OK from one dog that tested "a very week positive" in Hong Kong I doubt we can jump to the conclusion that dogs can contract, distribute and die thus causing even more panic.................. You know they eat dogs in China, he probably just ended up on a dinner plate!

As I had the front suspension exposed yesterday, I pondered the job of cleaning it all and painting it.
I have blasted it with a pressure washer. Didn't do much. Yesterday, I scraped a lot of mud off with a wire brush. That was better but in no way good enough to paint.

What the heck are you guys doing to get your suspension CLEAN for painting? Even if it's just a rough, RAPCO spray-can job?

The disease apparently is spread from bats to other creatures, and only then to humans.

My point is don't go on trails blocked by governments, and stay home.

Now I guess there is the new unfortunate reality that you should avoid eating your dog.

More on topic, I placed my vehicle on trickle charge now that I can't drive her. I await my parts to repair her from Kaskar.

Stay well one and all!

In the middle of the 200A conversion and mounting the AC compressor, whomever designed the fan clutch should be shot!!

Please take lotsa' pictures and such. I have the alternator and the mount and the wiring kit and I need to do this. Hoping I might learn from your experience.

Good luck!

Actually the 200A mod is rather straight forward so far, of course I cannot leave well enough alone and I machined the mounting bracket so the alternator would be moved back about 5/8" this will allow me to use the three rear pulleys for the alternator and PS pump and the forth (front) groove for the AC compressor, this should reduce the loading on the water pump a little bit compared to adding the five groove water pump pulley, I am also replacing the PS pump with a remote mounted reservoir pump (still a P series Saginaw)
The instructions for the 200A conversion are pretty easy to follow, but the AC compressor is turning out to be a real PITA.

way to take a simple conversion and make it a nightmare...really, it’s all plug and play, absolutely no need to machine anything. Your on your own when you decide to “engineer“ a supposed better solution.

So what is the nightmare? I have been "on my own" for many decades and am not asking you or anyone else for help with this, yes in my mid 60s I am having a little trouble wiggling my way around the fan and working the hydraulic line, but then again I did not design that.
I am not "engineering a supposed better solution" I am making a modification that I KNOW will be better guided by intelligence and decades of experience.
It is sad some think there is only ONE way to do things, this is the United States of America where free thinking and innovation has brought forth great things to the world.
So if you feel like you just need to make snarky comments go right ahead, but I am not going to bow down to your "supposed" intelligence.

I think the statement “can’t leave well enough alone” pretty much sums it up.
if you don’t like replies, good, bad, indifferent, don’t post.....like you, I have an opinion, mine opinions In this arena
are based on experience on a single platform for many many years.
I just see no need to reinvent something that works just fine and working in hundreds of thousands of vehicle, the system you despise so much is used on most military vehicles.

You are absolutely right, the HMMWV was completely perfect ever since its conception, hundreds of MWOs were not needed over the years.
I moved the alternator back six hundred and forty thousands of an inch so I can use the back three pulleys instead of the front three pulleys, so tell me what I have done wrong???, I welcome ANY intelligent and constructive criticism.
Geometry 101 taught most of use the load on a bearing is multiplied by the distance the load is applied to said bearing, so there is no arguing moving the load back on the water pump and PS pump reduces the load on those bearings, so please don't just say I have "created a nightmare" or "it's going to blow up" Give me an actual argument of what I have done wrong.

I don't own a HMMWV but this sounds like a great modification to me. Keeping the belts to the rear seems quite logical.....

Stay at home situation has at least one benefit...punch list gets some check marks.
all PMCS is done. All the electrical gremlins have been sorted. took it for a 10 mile shake down, shes Running well.

Installed the backup lights, pulled power from run/start (already had a Y packard connector there from LEO running flashers). Do one thing and find another...trans case shifter had pin sheered off. Not even really sure how that’s possible to do. Went to drill it out old pin on drill press, broke a bit in it. An hour later into a 5 minute job...done.

also got the tach and battery cutoff switch installed...it was a good couple days.

Bought 1994 M1097A1 (6.2l, TH400, NP242?) in October, EUC approved this month, picked up from Albany GA on 11 March. Had some rough parts but was recently pulled from preserved storage. She is starting to look respectable again. Just the curbside frame extension was damaged, look like they wrapped a chain around the bumper plate to tow it at some point. Replaced the RH frame extension, installed M1026 winch plate and a nice armored hood I got from Rob R at a price that made it not worth my time trying to work fiberglass on the original hood. The front left tire had sidewall damage, wouldn't hold air at all. We had to replace the wheel on the trailer in order to unload it. I scored two nice MT 12-bolt wheels today for $50/pair.

Batteries in, installed a instrument cluster and 3 speed Gear Shifter Assy. PCB worked, tried to turn over but I got diesel fuel squirted through the firewall where the power umbilical passes through. Turns out the fuel filter cannister is missing the check valve, pipe thread adapter and 10" piece of 1/2" fuel/oil hose, now on order. Still betting it turns over once the fuel hits the Stanedyne fuel injector system.

As with my 5-ton, the wife's HMMWV seems pretty long in the tooth, with many unit markings painted over.
I did uncover "C4ISR OTM" on one fender, so I guess it was a command and control truck at one point, plus it has the MWO tag for a PRC installation.

I like history. It's interesting to think of all the soldiers that sat in that truck, the conversations that were had. These old mules are full of ghosts and stories.
