If its a 1008 you won't break the 14 bolt driving in low with the hubs unlocked. Especially with a 6.2.

What is happening with T-Case in 4Hi and hubs NOT locked?

Old I know but I didn't see this mentioned.
I may be crazy but I drive my deuce all the time using 2low and 2hi and rarely engage the airshift front axle other than to keep everything lubed. Granted the M35 t-case is different, the priciple is the same, much like a NP205 or 203 case.
