Hopefully this is the last post for today at least.

Can anyone tell me what this item is.

Also, what is the small back item attached to the back of it as there looks as if there are two wire connectors that were attached at one time and have been cut off.

Is this something that I need to be concerned with?

Thanks again everyone and if you do not hear from me before the weekend is over.

Have an enjoyable Easter.

Regards,

Cten, that's the air pack for your brakes. It serves 2 purposes. It provides power assist braking and also meters air for operation of air or air/hydraulic trailer braking. The black thing on the back is a very non original switch piped into where the oiling port plug used to be. I'm not sure why anybody would put this here unless they just lost the cap and plugged it with this. I don't see a real reason for this. Here's a bit of free advise, take a few drops of pneumatic tool oil and put in that chamber where that pressure switch is. A little tool oil goes a long way in making the air pack last. These are good questions and a lot of newbies will learn from them.

That is a very good piece of advice and one that's very often overlooked on these trucks...many people are too lazy to crawl under there and get dirty I guess  Wonder why in the heck someone screwed a hobbs switch in there though unless like Kenny said they lost te pipe plug
