What is this!?

Ok, for the life of me, I cannot figure out what the tube mounted outside the passenger's front door jam is for. It kind of hides behind the exhaust so I never noticed it until tonight. Checked the TM's and searched but couldn't find anything on it. What is it?

That's what I was thinking but there was nothing in the bottom to keep the pole from banging up the fender. I may have to weld a washer in there for that purpose...although I am a little worried about a flag being so close to the stack.

No, it's the socket for mounting the exhaust gas sampling system.

Ok before this gets to muddled with the humorus "results" and then the OP (and anyone else doing a search) gets confused to what it really is, Yes Gimpy is correct. Itsthe mount for the leg of the Gun ring. Almost all deuces and 809 5tons have them reguardless of wether or not the truck ever had a ring mounted to it.

It would also be a good place to mount a flashing light for convoys. Just add a pole and wiring.

When my Deuce was a non turbo, the old exhaust stack was bolted to that.

IIRC it is bolted to the cab on the door jamb where the door hinges are. If you remove it you will have a gap that needs to be filled.
