I would say not for too long. Now a days diesel contains a lot of sulfur in it and it is highly corrosive. I would use any other lubricant or penetrting fluids that is less corrosive. If you are going to let it sit for a while. Just my personal opinionIt was suggested to me to fill the engine with diesel and let sit for awhile
diesel these days contains extremely little sulfur (it's called "ULSD Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel for a reason), and if it was corrosive then there would be all sorts of issues with the vehicle fuel systems that contain many metal components.I would say not for too long.
