What tools?

I've searched but didn't find the answers I was looking for. I ordered an IR2315Ti impact this morning and now need to order some impact sockets to use with it. Will I need to order SAE or Metric sockets for the Deuce? Or both?

I am also going to order a 1-1/2" Deep Budd socket for the lugs, and a 13/16" Square Budd socket for the budd caps. Will I need a Budd Wrench as well?

Where can one get one of those geared lug wrenches for the Deuce?

I am going use a 3/8" hose with Milton V style fittings from the glad hand to a PIG - 7gal air tank. From the pig I am going to copy a setup I seen on this forum and run 1/2" hose directly to the impact. I have seen several reports of guys using the IR2135Ti for heavy truck lugs with no problems as long as they feed them enough. Hopefully I will have the same results, AND be able to use the tool for regular tasks at home as well.

I think just about every nut and bolt on this truck is 3/4 or 7/16. That said I usually use the metric equivalent. There's not many SAE sizes that don't have a metric size you can use, plus if your truck has 50 coats of paint sometimes metric fits better. You should be okay with just a good set of SAE mechanic's tools. I have a 3/4" breaker bar with a cheater pipe, and 3/4" sockets in the 13/16 budd and which ever the front lugs are.

I think the nuts holding the transmission on were 9/16, I used a 14mm with no problems. 3/4 is about 19mm, 17mm is about 11/16, they are pretty close.

I like the idea of an extra air tank to help out, that should definitely help out with the lack of capacity from the deuce's tanks.

All bolts and nuts on a deuce are SAE. Get a good set of standard and deep well sockets in 3/8 and 1/2 inch. Also, get a set of 1/2" impact sockets and a good 1/2" impact wrench.( and a good air compressor if you don't already have one). You will be glad you did.

There is a fellow on e-bay selling the torque multiplier wrenches (I think a search for M-35 wheel wrench will turn one up) for about $100 plus S&H. I got one from a guy in Austria for about the same total cost, but the shipping was over $60. Well worth it if you do not have air impact available. Once you do get the wheels off, use a smidgen of anti-seize on the threads so the next time will not require as long a cheater bar.
