Found a 205 out of a 1985 full size Jimmy. What would a good price be? I'll eventually rebuild it and put in a 1028 (maybe with a 700r4).

If you look around you can find a 205 for a couple of hundred bucks. Some people think they are worth gold and they may be selling them at those prices but they can be found much cheaper. Personally, I wouldn't give over $300 for a 205.

The last 205 I picked up was a divorced model I picked up for free. A neighbor was scrapping a old IH truck and he said if I would pull it I could have it.

WOW. I would love to help someone out, but wouldn't climb up underneath it, jack it up, and pull it for $50.

Not that I'm cheap, but really???? $50? Labor and parts too? I would think a couple hundred anyway for a known good working one.

I know I would gladly pay that if I needed one. Good luck with it.

what about $2800 for a NEW 3:1 LOMAX 205 conversion? Seems a bit high to me, even though IS a lot beefier. The lower low range (3:1 vs 2:1) would be nice but an ORD Magnum has 2.72:1 and can double even lower for $1900 or so.... The LOMAX is a great device for our trucks, but it's AAEMBLED price point is too high for most of us - even with the fixed yoke output (which means we'd need a new driveshaft as well)

On the other hand, if mechanically savant, get the kit at $1600 and an ORD magnum at $2000 in front... Now 1:1 / 2.72:1 / 3:1 / 8.16:1 !!!
