What's the correct type of bolt

Guys, what's correct type of bolt for the Rhino tire carrier. Is grade 5 enough or should I stick with grade 8?

Also, on a seperate note, aluminum radio tray mount -- what kind of bolt can I use on the aluminum base and leg?

Grade 8 bolts aren't much more than grade 5, so I usually use 8's on everything.

Ditto, with exceptions. Sometimes it's better for the bolt to give than the frame. Like fuses. Sometimes fuses will sacrifice themselves for more expensive electronic components, sometimes they tough it out.

My rule is if it's suspension, heavy, or supports a safety system, I use Grade 8. If it's just body panels or accessories, I use 5. If the specs are available, I yield to the spec.

Now, for Al radio tray. What type of bolt to use to prevent galvanic corrosion?

One advantage of grade 8 bolts is that they're plated to keep them from corroding. That's what gives them their gold color. I agree that grade 8 hardware isn't that much more expensive but there are times when you don't want to use it. Grade 8 hardware is more brittle than grade 5 and can snap more easily. To get around this check the torque specs for the size your using and don't exceed it.

Unless you are using the same metal on ALL parts they can corrode including different ALLOYS of the same base metal. Best solution is a SMALL amount of anti-seize compound on any dissimilar metal surfaces. Hardware store grade is fine for mounting things like your radio rack.

Be conservative with anti-seize, it gets EVERYWHERE.

I'm sure I'm simply looking in that wrong location, but all I can find in TM 9-2320-280-24P-2 on figure 338 on page 338 are the uprights already mounted to the mounting brackets. that would be the area below the bolt 21 and washer 20.
I need to find the bolt that mounts radio tray's legs to the floor mounted bracket.
