What's this hose????

I've been searching tm's for the past hour and I cannot figure out what this hose is for. It comes off a pretty hefty elbow in the front of the block and runs into the firewall. I have a cut in the outer casing and want to replace it but it has a special fitting crimped on the end out at the block.... Any ideas? Is it a tach cable? I can seem to get my big ass under the dash to see where it goes. Sorry I'm just ready to pull my hair out over this thanks Dan

Tachometer cable. The cut is not a concern.

Thanks so much I'm just going to wrap a piece of hose around it and zip tie it.
