Where can I find a steering column bearing?

So, someone has put a tilt column in my M1008, but it is the correct 80’s style. Apparently from 84 up is when they moved the dimmer from the floor to the column. Anyway...

I have a broken bearing in the column. Ball bearings have came out of the upper part of the housing and the yoke has a little play. I know that it is not the first bearing, because I’ve torn down to it and verified that they are all in tact.

Issue is, no parts store anywhere can find the bearing I need or tell me the pet number so that I can search for it.

Does anyone know how or where I can find it? I haven’t torn down to it to see it in person yet, so no pictures.

The site Hasdrubal should have what you need.
Also if you search e-bay numerous sellers of the bearings and parts.

FYI,
You will need to determine what the column is from.
There is a difference between car and truck columns, and also between small and
Larger GM cars.
They look the same but the bearings are different because of shaft size.

I learned that the stock steering column is also used in Jeeps. I got the lower bearing (on the outside of the firewall) from a Jeep dealer. They're easier to find if you look for them as Jeep parts and supposedly cheaper too. Not sure if the same applies to the tilt column, but I bet it will.

Any tips on IDing my specific column?

Not really short of finding a stamped part number and trying to trace back.

Most places I have bought the column bearings from, listed the shaft dia.
Measure yours and go from there.
