What is the normal cargo variant canvas?On low density/high value targets like wreckers and fuelers, the Army thought it was a good idea to be able to "camo" them to look like normal cargo trucks. A good theory, until you need to take the canvas on and off a few times to use the wrecker boom. It uses the normal cargo variant canvas/bows.
here in the uk vehicles registered approx 1972 and olde are classed as "historic" and so are exempt/road tax free.Insurance per year is approx £60/£70 fully comprehensive.Large goods vehicles can be driven on car liscense if registered pre 1960.And again large goods vehicles registered pre 1960 and recovery(suspened tow) trucks are Mot/plate/testing exempt. Fuel is the real costly thing here!.Many people here drive military vehicles on these exemptions but like many things i would imagine all is ok with the police until you hurt/kill someone and then they thro the book at you."U S trucks always seem much cooler/better looks/bigger engines( why have 2 axles when you can have 3???etc). thanks martinOut of curiosity, what does it cost to put license plates on a M816 per year?
With fuel cost being double of US prices I'm surprised that there is such a strong following of all things military, especially US Military vehicles.
Looks cool!Here is a is what I believe to be a 5 ton Stewart Stevenson tan cover on my M936A2. Still needs one more bow in the rear most stake pockets. Its nice to have the spare tire and all the machinery covered now.
