winch clutch lever

I have a 10k lb winch on my m35a2, I broke the clutch rod off the back side of the winch, it's broken inside the housing, any good ideas as to how to extract the inner piece? Is that rod findable for sale?

There is no fishing out the broken piece. You are looking at a complete disassembly. Numerous threads here on doing that.

Did someone try to engage the clutch by forcing the clutch lever with a pipe ? This has happened before when the untrained operating with unauthorized tools try to engage the clutch without moving the captstan a little bit to align the dogs in the clutch so they engage. This is not a friction clutch here.

... or when disengaging while under load, since the dogs are slightly undercut.
