I have read on here that there is a difference between the A0/A1 and A2 winch controls. Can someone tell me or show me the difference? I bought one and don't know if mine is for an A2 which is what I need.

The only difference I know is the way it mounts in the cab. The cables are the same length on both. The A2 mounts over top of the ctis valve on the floor where the A1 mounts to the side of the shifter column.

got a 936a2 and the controls are there own box/bracket on pass side of auto trans shifter to floor .

the ctis unit is mounted on the auto trans shifter body left side.

The only difference in winches, according to the TM, is that the M936A0/A1 has the level wind device on top of the winch; whereas M936A2 do not. Operators TM-10 (2-22) Page 219.

The "tower" that holds the control levers are different between the 2.
The newer A2 trans tunnel is s lot shorter & the ctis valve is mounted to the tunnel/ fire wall (to the RIGHT) of the winch control tower.

Also the pto shafts are different lengths between the A1 & A2's

I have removed a winch setup from an A1 & installed it on an A2.

Did you shorten the pto shaft? And use the A1 controls?
No, I traded with someone here on the site.
I haven't installed control panel yet.
I have stock pto there now but plan to install an air shift pto & different winch control (smaller, cleaner setup) to give more room in the cab.

why not just buy newer control valve with electric caps on the ends to do wireless / hard wire for switches . like the newer tow trucks do these days .

this might help do the job a bit better with out being stuck in the cab to run the controls .

I respooled the front on the 936 and it SUCKED holding that lever for the whole length of cable . . . . button / switch would be so much better .
