How do you get the pins out to reverse the direction of the winch? Mine are bent and I am not sure how they are supposed to work.

Any videos out there? @Ronmar @Plasa

Thanks in advance!

No, the winch. When I roll then cable end all the way to the winch drum, I cannot get the end loose to flip over to the other side.

Well the instructions don’t say anything about having to pull any pins to get the cable off of the guide roller so you can roll the end around the drum to the guide on the other side. this pic seems to include all the instructions they give for this part of the process…

does the 1/2” rod under the roller move at all? They show some spring and washer on one end of the 1/2” rod, like it may be captive on one end and can slide that way to compress the spring, to free the opposite end to gain enough room to get the cable out from between the roller groove and that pin…

Sadly I have never had the opportunity to play with a winch truck…

For clarity, the pin you are referring to is located in the diagram below the cable guide (7). My pin is spring mounted so I can slide the pin towards the truck frame and the cable will slip past the end of the pin. My truck differs slightly from the diagram because my pin is mounted in reverse to what is shown in the diagram, The U shaped piece of metal shown on the outside of the winch in the diagram houses the spring and mine is on the frame side of the winch, not the outside. My pin sits flush as you look at it and slides towards the frame. If your pin is stuck and it is mounted like mine then you can tap it with a flat punch to free it.

Thats what I got looking at the exploded view . You push the rod in to compress the spring to free the end of the rod furthest from the spring…

Yes, that pin (80) is bent on my truck on both forward and rear ends of the winch. I think they pulled the cable back until the end hit the pins.

Ok, so just compress the pins to free them up.

Since mine were bent, I wanted to know what to do before I start bending and prying on things.

Thanks all!

I started wiggling the pins and after a while they started moving. I think they were painted in place.

with the spring fully compressed, I don’t get very much space to move the cable around the end.

the intent must be to snake the cable past it because the end is way fat.

has anyone tried it yet? I will probably keep the winch spooled out the rear unless I am planning to pull someone else out.

while I am talking winches…. Anyone find a hook that fits the cable end? What are you guys using on the end?

as always, I appreciate everyone on here and their help!
