Well I'm planning to get a winch on my truck, and because of my engine swap I can't use the stock deuce Garwood pto winch so It's going to be hydraulic or 24V electric

What I do have is a Braden LU2L-5 10k lbs probably from the rear of a M37 wrecker or a Ramsey X600-R 12K lbs from a 4x4 F600 conversion, Both are extended drums for 200+ feet of 1/2 cable. And they would be powered by my PTO hydraulic pack/24v aux pump for my crane and dump bed.

Or do I find a Warn 18k lbs winch from a MRAP?

Or do I go with sherpa or stallion 24V winch?

I'm the king of indecisions.

You eliminated the worst option - the stock mechanical winch.

If you think you are going to use the winch once in a while, maybe once every few months for a quick pull, I'd suggest to go electric. Ease of install, slower, more need to cool down - but, hey, you use it infrequently and when you do, you have time.

If you think you are going to use it a lot, weekly, for hours on end or commercially, for one recovery after the other, go hydraulic. More effort for install, but a superior system for control and finesse.

Does that help at all?
