What is the purpose of the red button on the plastic motors, is it to shut off the air line and how are you suppose to pop it back out, i was told to use a scribe to yank it back but was the army really that dumb to design it that way?

The red button is a reset/relief valve. If the piston in the motor assembly jams to one side and stops moving you can push in the button to relieve the air pressure and move the manual arm to get the wiper running again. The button should pop out on it's own. The theory was you could do this instead of having to turn off the manual control valve on the dash off and on.
