wiring problems deuce

I bought a new wiring harness for my deuce, spent the money got the proper one headlight to tailight to get rid of all the splicing and dry rot. Now I have no power coming out of my Genny even replaced it with a used one, old one burnt up. Any ideas what I might have wrong or burnt. I'm not seeing or might have chucked with junk wire it had a lot of cobbling, HELP PLEASE!

Do you have the schematic of the Deuce wiring harness? About the best thing that I did when I started with the M35, was take the schematic to Kinko's/Fedex & had them blow it up to about 3" square. Then with that & a meter & test light, you can start checking wires, to make sure they go where they are supposed to.

One would think that a new wiring harness, if you lay it out on the floor (brand new), that it should look just like the schematic, but that is often not so.

If it REALLY is a generator (not an alternator), then perhaps you need to flash the generator. While not MV, at this link is a tutorial that will help:

While you're at Kinko's/FedEx, spend a few more bucks and have that Deuce schematic laminated. Being laminated, you can use a grease pencil to mark what you've already checked. That, and a couple of magnets to secure it to the vehicle, will eliminate some of the stress of troubleshooting.
