Would you drive your 5t to Baja?

I have a buddy with a dead F350 in San Felipe and asked for help towing it back to Cali.

I'm not worried about it breaking down, but I can imagine how much the federalis would hassle you.

Has anybody ever ventured south across the boarder?

considering how much trouble a guy gets in for a few rounds of ammunition, I wouldn't be driving an Army truck across the border. Mexico has MUCH stricter controls on military grade surplus/equipment due to the cartels.

Paint it in stripes with a surry top and you should be fine.

Personally I wouldn't. Much easier and cheaper to just use another 1ton pickup to tow it back since your about 120 miles from the boarder

Forget it. If his truck has been there for more than a couple of days, there won't be anything left worth bringing home. If you try to cross the border in a military truck with camo paint, you will be arrested and thrown in jail.

I stopped going there decades ago but when I did go
I would always be sure to buy the additional insurance.

Have him order up a tow truck and meet him at the border w/ a
trailer or dolly to get him home he rest of the way.

Yup. Agreed. I wouldn't go down to Mexico even if someone was going to pay me.

I go down all the time to ride bikes and have never had any issues but I feel like a 5t would be asking for problems.

You can cross the border with one of these trucks, but you need your documents (EUC I believe), basically stating that you will not sell the truck when outside the US.

All sorts of folks down there would be wanting to relieve you of your truck, through legal and illegal means. I bought one of my truck from a guy here in El Paso that bought a bunch from Ft Bliss, intending to sell them to businesses with needs for these. The few customers that showed some interest would only take them if they were repainted in civilian colors. Many cited the concern that the vehicles would be seized by law enforcement or drug-runners ("law enforcement" does not necessarily infer "legally").

Most of the 939's out there can be sold outside of the USA and many didn't require an EUC and he can legally drive it down BUT I would not go in any military truck into Mexico for a simple pickup truck recovery. But I do know folks who have driven military trucks in and out of there, I think we have a couple members here that have.
