You would think some tech savvy member could get into the business of repairing/restoring these units... the quote I just got for an NOS unit... sit down... $ 14,500.00...

Slow down partner. I think you might find it cheaper someplace. What is wrong with yours?

Next time start your thread with MEP-805B deeply problem for a title, or something like that. All people can see now, is "wow, just got a quote". So no one really knows how to help you. May be you can get a moderator to change it. It would give you much more exposure.

Where red did you get this offer of a "good deal".

Actually I was able to fix ours. Pink lead inside broke loose, but before I had checked I put out a query for purchase in case it was available. I suspect the source is Mil. parts supplier for the gov.(aerobase group out of melbourne, fl) The entire purpose of the post was a share of my experience with mil. pricing and inquired about other members maybe delving into the repairing of these units since my oldest tells me that interestingly enough the operating backbone of the unit is a Windows CE system, the precursor to early 2000's pocket computers. I was not asking a question, just making a comment or conversation.

Sorry, misunderstood.

The cost to the gov was originally $10,166.00 Of course, the units got back part of the cost, when they turned in an unserviceable item. They got $3,700.00 credit.

Still way too much. There are several members here in SS that do repair things. It would be a profitable thing to get into. Hint, hint. I suppose the first thing needed is a unserviceable screen to get the ball rolling. Sadly, the TM's no longer have the parts breakout and schematics for these items.

The MIL providers , any thing that even mentions AVIATION are out of this world, Worked Jets for twenty years , F100-110 fuel control used to be 3.2 million You can get one for under a million today Only 1/3 the original price ! ( need to buy another) I stay away from those sites, Sometimes Uncle actually sells entire lots at scrap prices , only to find they still need them and lead time is 3 years < THEY then buy back for hundreds of thousand s what they sold for pennies , Used to be "AERO " business in San Antone that bought Tf 34 jet engine turbine blades in 55 gallon drums as scrap, paid some one dollars and hour to sort through them, blend them out and they resold them to SAM>

Its a part made by L3... not shocked at the sticker price (I sell products to L3 across the world to aid in the production of these screens, and hundreds of other products).

Thanks. Know anybody interested in repairing units? As far as I am concerned, I am good (for now), but I am sure several others are not...BTW, your handle... Light in the Dark... reminds me of Lucas... the prince of Darkness... -:) I am a lover of British cars and as such recognize the issues with Lucas electrics.

Can't tell you what they cost today. Original cost, of all three, according to the document I found is $10,166.00. I find that hard to believe. The black and white came first. When the black and white displays were replaced by color, there had to be some kind of price difference. I suppose if you go to the Westwood web site, you could ask.

NSN: 7025-01-467-4709 is the Black and White display.

I've done a few internal repairs to the MEP805/6B color displays. If it is something wrong with the lcd screen, wiring, connections, etc., it is usually an easy fix. The motherboard however, that's a different story. They're not available from WinSystems anymore, and I haven't had any luck finding used motherboards either. I keep a spare color display on hand in case one of mine fails and isn't repairable, and I also have a spare monochrome display I'd probably be willing to part with for a reasonable price if a forum member ever needed one.

I have not seen those systems in person and what all is involved in them but just looking from the you tube videos of it running it looks to me like a (relatively) simple PLC controlled generator. Probably a commonly available HMI screen with a PLC could be adapted to make it work and of course the software would have to be written or perhaps adapted from what is already existing.

As your photo is a 6x6 fire truck I'll assume you are with a Fire Dept. If major/significant (expensive) failure got to DOD surplus and req a replacement unit. Still LOTS of gensets in the system. Also why when requesting surplus the old rule of "two is one and one is none" applies. You know nothing about what you are receiving and may need cannibalize one to make another go.

Update, 1 May, 2019:
The newest, and only good NSN now for the CIM is: 7025-01-618-6736.
Was informed that the military got rid of, (read that De-milled) all the old CIM's by NSN, other then the -6736 number.
Current price, $7,500

Correct. Which is why I provided the info for GAC, as they are offering non milspec retrofits (and they were the OEM as far as I know). Though with that said, I had a user reach out to me from Venezuela trying to get info, and I passed forward their information about this... and crickets. I specifically asked for an acknowledgement and to reach out one way or the other to this person (an SS user). Not sure I will pass their information forward if they can't be bothered to help.
