XM1061E1 Trailer Brake Shoes

I need brake shoes for my 1061 trailer. The shoes are 15" and 3" wide. They look like M105 shoes in the TM. Does anyone know if they are the same as M105 shoes? I'm not sure if the 105 has 15" brakes or not.

M105a2 part number 7064972 is the same NSN as the A3
What is odd is, researching part number 8336701, it says M105A3, but lists it as a 2" in lieu of 3" brake shoe.
2530-00-693-1007 is a 3", so I'm not sure how we come up with this anomaly.
I'm at a loss on this one. I think I would just pull my M105 up alongside the M1061 and look at them. Should be a better way...

I found the same problem. I have both an M105A2 and an M149A2 water buffalo and both take the same shoes, wheel cylinders, etc. Unfortunately, both trailers are located in a remote part of my property and I don't really want to move either of them to level ground right now to pull a drum. I have also seen shoes on Ebay advertised as for the 105 trailer, and they look just like the ones on my 1061. However, I have also seen other shoes on E-bay advertised for the 105 that are completely different, not even close to the same design. I've found several places that will reline my current shoes for $28 - $30 for each shoe and I may have to go that route.

Well the later M105's used 2 wheel cylinders and the early ones only used one i think (per side). I just recently bought an M1061 Trailer and I am interested in this also. I want to pull all the wheels, pack the bearings, service everything before I use it. If the shoes look good, I will just leave them of course. It would be nice to know about the shoes though. I have an M200A1 and I am thinking that a lot of the shoes have to be the same for these trailers... I would think anyway.

I've been looking at the now-removed shoes from the XM1061E1 trailer. They are marked 7064979, which is the shoe only, sans lining. The Assembly P/N is 7064978. The CAGE is 19207. All of the shoes are marked Made in Canada. Both left and right shoes are identical. The lining is 3" wide and 16" long. The lining is 3/8" thick.

The shoes & wheel cylinders on the M796 bolster trailer, are the same as the M105. From the outside, measuring the drums, should give one a good guess about the width of the shoes - 2" or 3".

Best bet is to get them relined locally.

The shoes are available ob ebay from equipmentpartsales. $45 each!

There are a couple places that show them in stock, with a search for the part number and "brake shoe".

Well, I found NOS shoes on Ebay and I just received them today. They were new in the box and have the correct P/N 7064978 on both the boxes and shoes. However, the shoes that came off my XM1061E1 have 3/8 inch thick lining and the new shoes only have 1/4 inch thick lining. Otherwise they are identical. Looks like I now have a shorter life expectancy on the shoes, but with the low mileage I put on the trailer, not a big deal. The relay valve failed, causing the brake failure and fire. I just received an NOS relay valve today as well. Hopefully, I won't have any issues in the future. I'm still waiting on one more wheel cylinder before I complete the rebuild.
