I know I'm going to regret this thread, but I just drove the M813 for a hour or so and I will never own another deuce. This big cummins powered monster is much more of a truck. It is quieter, more powerful, easier to steer and just plain manlier (did I spell that right?).

I know you all lover your M35's, but I no longer have any use for them. Why have a snack when you can have a meal? And the M813 came with big tires. No wild modes needed to make it a beast.

I do admit, it takes more room to turn, park and store this monster, but you will never need viagra again

As a side note, I am excited because I found the last of the "real" problems with the truck yesteday. I found the broke wire for the left turn light. This truck really runs good. I hate to sell it, but it is for sale. No reason I can't drive for now though.

You deuce guys can now abuse me.

Gonna go work on the 3 in my yard today. They are up for sale. I just got me a 5 ton and have been told i too will never drive another deuce once i get my 5 ton on the road. Guess i will have to start a 5 ton collection so i can use up the 24 HEMTT taking up all the space in my son's garage.

Atleast with a deuce you can multi task, Go for a drive in the woods and get a upper body workout at the same time. Im going to keep my bobbed deuce, But I am also going to buy a M818 in the near future.

NOT A CHANCE! I have driven 2 M818s 500 miles one way & got 10mpg each. And....I drove 2 M813s 200 miles one way & got 9mpg each.

A deuce gets 11mpg. OR 8mpg w/cargo cover on.



I will NEVER drive my deuces around again.....they are like little pickup trucks. 5 tons are waaaaay better.

I've only owned 4 or 5 5 Tons over the years. My last one was just before something called a CDL was all the hullaballoo. Are CDL's still associated with the GVW of the truck? Are they still required regardless if the truck is Private or Commercial?

Not to mention your stuck with Diesel only with the cumapart vrs burn anything flamable in the deuce.....

NOT A CHANCE! I have driven 2 M818s 500 miles one way & got 10mpg each. And....I drove 2 M813s 200 miles one way & got 9mpg each.

A deuce gets 11mpg. OR 8mpg w/cargo cover on.

Mileage number vary all over, especially in these trucks, but in the dozen+ threads on the forum those are the average numbers others are getting, 6 and 10 in average mixed driving. But yes, you can do much better or worse in either truck.

Like previously stated. Do you want a snack or a meal. My M54 5 ton gets close to 8 mpg. Its all in how you adjust it. I.P. that is.

5 ton's are nice, with the power steering and bigger motor. And you can haul more weight. Not that I've needed to haul more than a deuce can handle. Then anytime you work on it parts are WAY bigger than the deuce parts, more expensive, and heavier.

Of course most deuce's lack power steering, but that can be fixed.

5 ton cargo is what, 20,000lbs empty? Deuce is 13,000 lbs empty, don't sink the front end as easy, and not so many ruts in the yard.

And fuel cost is less on a multifuel. Deuce fits in tighter spots. On that note, you can get the multifuel powered 5 ton's.

I looked at jumping to 5-tons, but right now only need 1 spare for 2 trucks, since both are M35 style trucks. So I'm with Kenny, I'll keep with the smaller deuce.

I am legend for my ecclectic fuel mixtures.

But I have to say after driving my 5 ton wrecker everything else does seem very small.

And you see some really nice seat covers in the little cars and trucks that pass you.

I am thinking bob 5 ton bob job with twin stacks.....lose the 250 Cummins for a Big Cam 350 or a 400 with Jake brakes.

Super singles with HEMMET tires and rims.

Tilt flat bed with gooseneck hitch.

The possibilites boggle the imagination (and warp the wallet).

Clinto nailed my feelings. I can do boots and a bearing repack on a deuce in a day and still have the energy to eat. If I do this on a 5 ton I will have to be spoon fed while laying down. Can't afford any more hernia operations. I've owned both and I'll stick with the little trucks, don't need a 5 ton justify my manliness!
