I bought this truck last year, It is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I've been doing alot of work on her.

I take it off road often and battle the pesky UNIMOG's that roam the back woods around here.
Everyone loves the deuce.
Heres a couple pics


I plan on locking up all 3 diff's and adding some LED light bars.
I will paint it OD green after summer.
 
I dunno why, but reading your post I was suddenly reminded of a youtube video of a couple Canadian guys on a late night mission to look at a truck the guy said was a deuce but the truck they were looking at was a 5-ton. (the 10-lug wheels was the giveaway) It was a pretty funny video and just about every other 3 words were "frickin", "choochin", and every sentence ended with "eh".
Now that I have a genuine Canadian to ask, what does "choochin" mean anyway?

Had a great summer with the truck, made a few improvements and really put the old girl to the test..........she handled everything and asked for seconds.

I'll say it again, by far the best purchase I've made. People up here really get a kick out of this mean truck. It turns heads and they always smile.......chicks dig it too.
The truck and I went on a 4 day expedition along an old gold rush trail here in BC called the Whipsaw trail. A popular 4x4 destination. I really enjoyed the challenge of squeezing this old girl through trees, up and down mountain switch backs and climbing steep loose terrain. With these tires aired down to 18psi she performs better than the rest and with more style. The kraut UNIMOG's I wheel with were very surprised at what this "cookie cutter" truck can do. Nobody expected to see an old deuce up on them tight remote trails so their reaction alone was worth the trip.
I've made a lot of improvements to the truck this year including restoration of the bench seats, 12x4.5" LED off road lights 8 out front 4 for reverse for a total 26,400 lumen, custom cargo bulk head with light mounts, replaced the stock lights with H4's, and put on the tires. Up next I'll be painting her the standard NATO pattern, maybe this weekend.

Wish list:
-Air assist steering
-new seats
-a couple of Detroits for the rear axles
-air shift t case
-The proper rims
-Cargo cover and bows

If any of my fellow SS can help me track down some of these items I would be in your debt as parts are not easy to find up here. maybe I'll make a trip down to one of your rallies next year.

HI it will when done with restore,in its navy green,will get the attn of the girls when my m818 gets here about 2 oct too. I can wheel it too, did it in a HEMTT wrecker too towing an m923a2.

Did you buy it in Canada or import it? I'm curious to find out if they are hard to import, as there aren't many for sale here in Ontario.

Hello KingMachine. I am also from the lower mainland and would be VERY interested in learing about your purchase price, how you got the truck to Canada, and any other info you can give me. Did you have to have it safety inspected? Where there any other hurdles you had to go through? Any info you could give me would be cool. Thanks and please keep posting those cool pics!

13th everything needs to be safetied. If Manitoba requires it, BC is surely worse. Its not toooo big of a deal to safety them. Have to add the license plate light, supposed to have clearance lights, per Canada's guide on commercial vehicles over standard vehicle width, but I got around this simply saying 'it wasn't original equipment.'
Look for a vehicle that didn't sell with an EUC. I have heard of guys getting even the EUC ones across the border but not sure if its a who you encounter when you cross thing. Roll the dice? You can't buy one from GL auctions, however there are other auctions out there that will sell to foreigners direct. Best thing is to get one private sale. Check the state laws on title requirement carefully. I bought mine with no title but in Alabama you don't need a title for vehicles of vintage era. The State Notary of Transport issued a letter with the bill of sale stating the vehicle didn't need a title for customs purposes, allowing it to be released to me without a title. Make sure you have that 72 hr grace established before crossing too....

I bought this truck off of a Canadian guy, he imported it. I really don't know much about the process of getting it here.
Over the past year I've done a lot of work to this truck. A half restoration you could say. HEMTT Rims, 395 xml's, home made adapter plates, new paint, troop seats, new interior seats, spin on filters, axles seals, full break system over haul, 12x 2200 lumen LED off road lights, wheel bearings, king pin bushings, I could go on. This is a great truck and I enjoy working on it.
I have an oil leak on the the engine I need to sort out, power steering, and an air shift tcase. then I'll call it done.
Also I need a commercial vehicle inspection in order to insure it, shouldn't be a problem with all the work I've done
