So I just bought an M32A2. I discovered that the front axle will not engage in either direction. I don't really care about well the sprag system is, I just want the cheapest and easiest repair for $2200 machine. I read a post and TM about adjusting the sprag, buy it only seemed to focus on the reverse shifter. On that note, the shift rod seemed to have about .5-.75" of movement when I pried on it. I also notice that the drive shaft would rotate a couple degrees cw or ccw, as would be expected, but when I move the shift linkage in toward the TC all of that play was taken up. This suggest to me that front axle was locked to the TC at that point, but maybe not enough to move a 13k lb truck. Not fully understanding what i was doing or much about the sprag setup, i put the front bumper against a tree and put the truck in 1st gear in low and let the wheels spin. I then got out and observed the rears spinning and no motion in the front drive shaft. Hopefully someone can make sense of my jumbled mess of information here. Bottom line, I'd like my 6wd working and I don't want to spend much time or money. I don't do any real serious offroading with it, but I don't want to get stuck in my yard either.
