So I just bought an M32A2. I discovered that the front axle will not engage in either direction. I don't really care about well the sprag system is, I just want the cheapest and easiest repair for $2200 machine. I read a post and TM about adjusting the sprag, buy it only seemed to focus on the reverse shifter. On that note, the shift rod seemed to have about .5-.75" of movement when I pried on it. I also notice that the drive shaft would rotate a couple degrees cw or ccw, as would be expected, but when I move the shift linkage in toward the TC all of that play was taken up. This suggest to me that front axle was locked to the TC at that point, but maybe not enough to move a 13k lb truck. Not fully understanding what i was doing or much about the sprag setup, i put the front bumper against a tree and put the truck in 1st gear in low and let the wheels spin. I then got out and observed the rears spinning and no motion in the front drive shaft. Hopefully someone can make sense of my jumbled mess of information here. Bottom line, I'd like my 6wd working and I don't want to spend much time or money. I don't do any real serious offroading with it, but I don't want to get stuck in my yard either.

Pics? Never seen one before.

If you read all the other posts, we do not need to cover this here, it has all been covered in them.

You sure you have a sprag? I picked up my truck and thought it was a sprag because I had no air shift actuator and also couldn't get it to engage. After climbing under and comparing diagrams I figured out the truck had been upgraded to an air shift but never had the air lines and stuff installed. Bought a air shift upgrade kit a year ago and it is still in the garage. Hope to install it one day.

Yeah well, between that and not wanting to spend time or money to fix it, why bother.

If you want to play with big toys, expect BIG repair bills.

No matter which direction you go, (repair, replace, change to air shift, etc) it will take time and money. It is the nature of the beast.

ALL repairs take three items: time, knowledge and money

If you do not have the knowledge, then you have to hire someone that does. That takes money.

If you don't have the money or the knowledge, you have to teach yourself, that takes time.

If you don't have the money, but have the time and knowledge, then you are SOL until you can afford the parts.
