Do you have a compressor? If so you can easily put some quick connect air fittings on a glad hand and use standard air compressor and hoses to air up the truck. You can also use that same glad hand to power air tools or air up tires once you get the truck running.

I do have shop air. I just want to be sure that I have enough to get it off the trailer safely. I guess one shot should be good to start. If it runs too low it will just lock the spring brakes anyhow. I looked at the GL pics to see if they were caged but it doesnt look like it.

North Carolina - FINALLY !
I had to do mine like that and got three/four brake applications before having to reload the air. I ended up needing a compressor, but it was an easy (relatively) job.

Airing the truck up is the best way to unload the truck for sure. If you cage the brakes it just makes the truck way to unsafe to move around.
How do you think they loaded it? If they rolled it on, they are most likely caged.

Caging the brakes only releases the parking brake. The service brakes still function if supplied with air. You can actually drive a running truck with the brakes caged and still have service brakes.

Not if the brakes are caged.

My new M923A1!

Got here today. No problems unloading. We ended up using air from the tractor to air up the truck. Backed her right off without a hitch! Thanks for all the advice guys. So far I have found the motor is in fact blown. Water in the oil and a thrown rod = a cracked block. So ill be needing a motor for it. Overall it is in great shape aside from the engine. Anyhow here it is! :driver: And I cant forget a big thanks goes to Eric from Surplus Transport. He was awesome! Got the truck here super fast and really helped with the offload.

Bummer about the engine...
looks like it is all there otherwise.
Maybe buy another truck just fo rthe running engine and part out the balance?
You might actually make money if the trans and TC are good and sell.

Good Luck!

How do I figure out the year of manufacture on my M923A1? "I searched"

I have been searching for 2 days now. I got the truck from GL and there is no year designation anywhere on the truck or in the paperwork. I saw that a guy here was decoding the serial numbers but he doesnt seem to be doing it any longer. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Thanks

This is the thread your refering to 2013 VIN INFO Thread . He hasn't sais he quit doing them he is just not doing them for free. It was expected when people got there info they make a donation to a specific charity , not many people were. Then he started a thread about surplusing trucks and stated in the first post not to make politicial posts ( violates site rules ) and people counldn't keep from turning it political. So he now it appears there is a fee for the service no one else has.All it tales is a few disrespectful people to ruin things for everyone .
