Can't get axle (bearing) nut off

Ok so my sockets came in yesterday and decided I would try and tackle the drivers front today.

Socket is a little loose but I guess that is ok, it is an OTC socket and I ordered the ones referenced here in the threads.

Put my 450 ft lb impact on it and no joy. Broke a ratchet with a 5 ft breaker bar, tried again with my craftsman ratchet and just bent the breaker bar. Tried the chisel and hammer and I'm just taking metal off.

Heat is my next option but the grease catching fire scares me a little.

Any suggestions as I'm all out of any, if my impact couldn't break it lord only knows how tight it is.

I got a leaky inner seal on my middle axle. Want to volunteer to help me out? I got cold beverages and cash if you are interested.

Man it took me almost an hour just to get the hub and drum assembly off on the front. I think my motorcycle jack idea is going to get scraped and go to a engine hoist with a ratchet strap.

Let me figure this out and see how much I like the truck after I do all 6 and then I'll give you an answer, lol

Most likely yes though, have to wait a week or so, next week is seals week, I just decided to start early for some odd reason.

I want to use a pallet jack to remove the drum. Just place 3/4" plywood under the wheel so it will roll out easy. I can add wood shoring and strap to secure the drum in place. ( I have a narrow and regular pallet jacks)

I think for the rears and the other side I'm going to use the sheet metal truck.

Place a sheet of metal under the tire, add a little lube and just slide the tire and hub assembly out as one whole piece. No breaking your back and you can use the tire as leverage.

Pallet jack can do that. It is similar to the specialty cart made to remove dualies from commercial trucks. No lube required. (tires go between the 2 forks)

I've done several heavy truck axle seals and countless brake jobs. But never a powered front end. I always took the wheel and drum off as one assembly. Yes you can turn the drums with the tires on! A greased piece of sheet metal for the duals work great. An engine hoist for the front. As of today I have a front and a rear seal replacement to do on the M944 w/super singles. I'm going to fabricate an angle iron frame to bolt to a pallet jack to hold the tire/drum upright when removing it.

If the spindle nuts were that tight, I would look at the spindle and nut threads VERY closely for signs of pulling or galling, also for a distorted or warped nut.

I've got all the inners of the hub soaking in a bucket of zep. I'll look at the nut later. The spindle looked fine from just glancing at it, I'll loom a little closer today.
