Installing IbesTek front bumper

Instructions are pretty straight forward, however it does not mention that the grill may hit the rear braces of the bumper when the hood is raised. If raised vigorously enough you might damage grill. To prevent this the hood prop rod needs to be shortened. I cut mine at the L shaped bend and then rebent it. You will need to drill a new hole for the cotter pin. Also I installed a small roll pin to replace the swaged projections that position the outer washer. Thisshortening modification gives at least an inch or so of clearance so Private Snuffy should not damage your grill. If your HMMWV has a winch plate I don't think this modification should be necessary but check.( I know I need to learn to post pictures)

Did you use the thick spacer plate with d-ring attached? It comes with new-in-box IbisTek bumpers. It is about 1/4" thick which sets the bumper forward thus allowing the hood to have a clearer opening. Also, metal housing front marker/blinker lights are a hair taller than the plastic ones. The top cover screw to hits the bumper when hood is opened.

Regardless, your idea is a very clever one!

Did not use the lifting shackle plates because page 4 of instructions states that they are only to be used on M1114 series and that installing them on M990 series will prevent the hood from opening fully. Did I not understand or is this not correct. I've done one, Ted, and you've done many so I defer to you. Thanks, Bob
