Yeah but you can't mount NDTs on a one piece rim. He could go with radials though. I was under the impression he wanted to try and run the original big NDTs. I know he would have to find new ones.

A truely impressive vehicle in many of it's design aspects! Congratulations to the OP for saving it.
Probably the only thing rarer in a deuce would be one of the ConDeco diesel electrics with motors in the wheel hubs. The ConDeco units might have solved a lot of problems we have with the seals and bearings on the deuce axle ends, and they probably would have been adaptable to duel power (hybrid electric truck).:!:

I have to wonder if any of them survived. I've never seen anything on here about someone having one. And I can imagine it being an electrical nightmare after 50 years of neglect.
The ConDeco units, that is.

I totally agree Garrett ! After working on one of the first Hybrid busses in the world (Breda) I can honestly say they can be a bucket of worms ! The electric motors are extremely powerful but prone to a lot of problems. Contacts burning, brushes going out, capacitors, shorting power lines to frame !

Parts donor problems

This project is still moving slowly ahead. the local GSA had some deuces for auction so I bought two. I intended to use at least one for parts and spares. There is a catch, as usual. These are fuel trucks. before you guys beat me up for tearing them apart, please let me know if you have a drop side cargo truck in similar shape. it would have the bed I need more than the tanker along with the other parts I'm missing. these both run and drive but neither tanker has brakes. *Mods: if this needs to be in the classified just let me know and I'll redo this post. *

This one is labeled ad am M49C but it is multifuel and overdrive trans. There is no pump but the Trans PTO is there and works. Supposed to be an aluminum tank. Three compartment. the baffles have been sliced to make it one big tank for fire use. Runs and drives, no brakes. Wondering if someone would trade the tank for a dropside bed?

Sorry for the delay checking in. Had some computer issues, and once they were were resolved, was badly behind on work. So....how can I help?

The largest collection of material I have seen on trucks of this era were previously housed in the Ordnance library at Aberdeen (NOT the museum). I am confident that these have been moved to Fort Lee, VA. I have visited there in the past - but won't have occasion to visit there again for some time.

There is one other place that may have some material - that I will be visiting in May. I will see what I can find.

I just figured out that the M35A2 page is a closed group. I think anyone can join but you have to be a member to see the pictures. I'll have to see how that works. The page is called "M35A2 deuce and a half " on Facebook 12-26-16 -Andrew
