I believe the idea is to make a one piece wheel, still in the 20" size, to avoid split rims, but to also run surplus tires
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
I totally agree Garrett ! After working on one of the first Hybrid busses in the world (Breda) I can honestly say they can be a bucket of worms ! The electric motors are extremely powerful but prone to a lot of problems. Contacts burning, brushes going out, capacitors, shorting power lines to frame !I have to wonder if any of them survived. I've never seen anything on here about someone having one. And I can imagine it being an electrical nightmare after 50 years of neglect.
The ConDeco units, that is.
I have plenty of NTD's mounted on 1 piece rims?Yeah but you can't mount NDTs on a one piece rim. He could go with radials though. I was under the impression he wanted to try and run the original big NDTs. I know he would have to find new ones.
My tire guy told me that the steel cable in the bead of the 9 and 11.00 r20s is too stiff to get them on a one piece rim without damaging the bead. Could be wrong, I don't know. I'm not a tire guy, that's just what I was told.I have plenty of NTD's mounted on 1 piece rims?
I sent him a note and link to thread.Well has anybody been able to get a hold of David Doyle? I sure hope he can dig something up or maybe info on another vehicle that used these axles.
Cool looking rig. Can't wait to see it when you are done with it.I re-added the pictures so you don't have to click on them. I don't know why they did it that way....
