So what's the story concerning the trucks not being released to owners that won bids, got EUCs cleared and have release papers? I have spoken to 2.
Once they are recalled we can't release them without getting in trouble. So these guys just had bad timing. If they incurred any costs(which I am sure they did). They need to let us know and provide receipts/invoices so we can file the claim with the DLA.

We got denied the pickup of the 977 we bought. we even have a title for it. and we even bought a door for it because the truck was missing a door. Well maybe we can sell the door to the government for a stupid price to offset the getting dicked around. ha we wish.

I think if you already have a title/SF97 that means they are withholding private property and that is a different set of laws. Just sayin'.

The sad part is that they can come for any truck at anytime if they want to. Even someones old M54 5 ton if they need it. Yes we are American citizens and have rights BUT they have that big crayon and can just X a few things out on that thing called the Constitution when they see fit. Yes we can call Lawyers but it is just like the City, county, and state governments work the Fed's will just outbid you and and drag it out in court and they all have more money than us cause they have all of our money.

I was actually in court yesterday helping an attorney on a case and I heard a judge say " Yes that is what the law says, but I don't have to go by that"

WHAT!!!!???!!

My unit had HEMMT fuelers back in the day, we couldn't drive them on calif roadways because they had no rollover protection for the fuel pods, I guess they would spill all there contents if tipped over. Eventually the state issued an exemption.

as far as this current situation and the sky falling....in over 30yrs, I have never seen the Govt come and take back a truck.
Stop sales? Yes, come take back a truck? NO.....can it de done?, yes
Its all out of our control so just let the chips fall where they may. Think of the logistical and legal would have. As others have mentioned they have sold there trucks, and those could have been sold again, so they go after the owner, that owner must be compensated for the item, maybe it's more, maybe it's less then what he paid, now he goes and sues the last seller to recoup his losses, even though he does not have a leg to stand on in court.
as you can see, there are far to many scenarios that would play out and I just don't think the govt want to deal with it....stop the current sales and be done with it.

I do know of people who have had GL items "not rolling stock" taken back from the winning bidder.
this involved sensitive communications gear and he was paid quit nicely to return it.
Im not sure of what the laws or policy is, such as, Do they have to give you fair market value, reimburse for any and all costs for transportation, work performed to truck, DMV fees...I have no idea.

Look at what the govt did a year or so ago with those Land Rovers.
Showed up in force with weapons (not drawn) to take them on the spot.
6 cars and 14 agents just to get one 4wd Land Rover that didn't meet US emissions. That was getting just one.
That was just for EPA issues.
Not sure about the reimbursement, if any.

If they want them, they will come get them.
Legal and money issues will be dealt with AFTER they get it and on your dime.

Those were illegal trucks brought in improperly.
Not all of them. Quite a few were properly done and then the EPA changed the rules and instant illegal truck.

The point was the amount of force that showed up to get them.

If they want them, they WILL get them.

You gents are getting your knickers in a twist when you have no reliable information to start with. However, if the demil code does change, you will be reimbursed your purchase price (or the original sales price) and you will have to prove and negotiate any upgrades or changes. If you bobbed it, I'll bet Uncle will be very unhappy.....

So far, I see something about constitutional law on here, and that is to include the rights of life, and property, and perhaps happiness, however I see nothing in there about owning any motor vehicle, much less an ex military truck. One other thing to remember, a judge is god in his or her court room, and he/she is not bound necessarily by precedent. I would quit worrying until you do have something to worry about.

Oh, and the land rovers in question, didn't meet the EPA regs and were imported under false papers and VIN's.... likewise you can't bring a diesel London taxicab in for the same reason. If they want to take illegal vehicles, they have the right, as it is somewhat like owning stolen property, you don't own it to start with. We need a new icon with a crying towel here folks.

Many of these posts step pretty close to "political Speech", lets see what the moderators think in the end.....;)

The details about the land rovers are not the point.

The amount of ARMED FORCE that showed up to get just one 4wd is the point.
They weren't cheap trucks, so it wasn't like Mr & Mrs Dirtbag had it parked in front of a crack house.
Almost every owner had no idea about the issues until armed agents showed up to get them.

Not policital.....just factual
It did happen.

Imagine them showing up to get a former military, 8wd, still stamped "property of US government" truck?
Not an easy thing to hide.

Please give me a refresher, what happened with first release M934A2 and M1101 trailers? When were they sold, why they had to be recovered, and the outcome.

Well unless they were military Land Rovers it has no bearing on MV's and not MV related , which is what this forum is about. So if they were not MV's posting about them here is just political posting.

Look I'm not worried if they want it they can have it.
BUT it is only fair that I get reimbursed for truck and shipping if I don't get paid for painting that's all right. It's not the end of the world.
I see nothing political about his opinion.
It's some of the hardliners that need to take a chill pill.
We are having a good time with this.
Or at least I am. It's a dang truck not my life.
Life will continue if there's no 8x8 in my yard.
Have fun with it like my 4 tires picture.
If God wants me to have that truck it will be.
Have fun quit stressing over stuff you have no control over.

You do not get the point.

The armed agents might be the same ones to recover these "IF" the govt decides it wants them.
The LRs were just an example of excessive force to seize ONE 4wd.

Not really sure why your considering it political?

It happened
FACT.....not my opinion....FACT

It does have to do with MVs. Who do you think could show up to get them if it gets to that point? The GP rep? Ummm no.

Do I personally think it will come to that? No
But.....the Land Rover seizures point to what "could" happen. Worse case.
