Humvee wont move!!

hi everyone,

I have had this m1038 since January 1st and have fixed all of the issues except I now have a Humvee that won't move.....
I have a leak in the tranny pan ( front passenger side)

please help if you can

You didn't answer the question - what did the bottom of the pan look like? What was the condition of the fluid?

Shotgunning questions without details likely won't get you the best of answers.....

sorry, I didn't open it my mechanic did but I did put a bucket underneath to catch the fluid and it is as red as it was when we put it in. also should I reuse that fluid?

When I first put trans fluid in mine, it would move if the fluid was too low. Check the level properly and see where it is.

hi, if I check when it isn't running it shows a very light red way past full.... when it is running it is a little bit past full except I just took out a bucket of tranny fluid that was accumulating for the 2 months that I was on vacation for I will check the size of the bucket and send another reply.

I suggest you invest in a technical manual for your HMMWV.
As to checking for a leak I would say look directly above the red puddle on the floor and follow the red fluid back to were it is coming from.
You then will have found your leak.
If that doesn't work sell the HMMWV and buy something British as they seem to run without fluids in them better then U.S. made stuff.

funny; I know that it is from the pan maybe something above it but I have replaced the pan gasket already so its probably one of the nuts.

Well, if you're losing a gallon or more of trans fluid, I think you're highest priority is getting the leak addressed before you even worry about moving it.

yes it is but as I was looking for that leak I figured out why it wasn't moving so I fixed that and now I'm waiting on parts...

The lack of fluid because of your leak might have something to do with that. You don't even know what parts, if any, need to be replaced. Fix the leak.

I really wasn't trying to be funny.
There is no magic bullet to finding a leak other then following the trail back to it's source. You said you changed the gasket.
Did you change the filter while you had the chance? If you had the pan down then you also drained all the fluids out of the lines and possibly the cooler. If you look in the service manual it will tell you how much the system holds once drained.
Do you know what the Vampire problem is on a HMMWV?
Do a search for it here on SS.
Have you checked the fluid in your transfer case?
You may find that it is way over filled. If so you may have the Vampire problem.
Have you pulled out your air filter?
If it has trans fluid on it or in the air filter housing you have the vampire problem.
The search feature here on SS is chalked full of very useful information.
Also you will find a nice selection of technical manuals that have been down loaded for the HMMWV in the technical manual section.

Also if you changed the gasket did you under or over tighten the bolts that hold the pan on.
