My Kantleak is leaking

I was washing my truck in the driveway this weekend and when I got to the rear passenger side the glad hand shutoff with the soapy water it was blowing bubbles, and not slowly. Are these rebuildable or do you just toss it and replace with a new one?

I think you just have to replace them. I have seen a lot of them that leak. Just try to keep good seals on the glad hand and that will help.

Thanks, the leak is around the handle of the valve so I'm guessing the stem seal dried out.

Yea just swap it out. Home depot or lowes. 1/2 "pipe. I replace both rears together and then the fronts together since the other is just as old

Can't tell from the picture but there is possibly a packing nut, or stem nut, that can be tightened. It would be under the handle and the stem would pass through it. It would thread into the valve body. We have all types of valves at work. Some have the nut and some don't. Sometimes it will fix it and sometimes it won't.

FYI, I would not replace the one on the front service if you have one there. If it gets closed your brakes will slowly lock up.
Don't ask how I know that.

I'd replace the valve and put fresh gaskets on the glad hands.

Ok, you got me. what's the front right one do? Is there a pneumatic schematic on how these glad hands work. I looked at a couple TM's and the ones I saw just showed the components not how they interact.

The right front has no shut off valve and is always open. I replace the gladhand and the piping going to it. but that's just me.

The service front has to vent when you release the brakes, that is why it has a little vent on it like the ones on the axles.

When I got my first 5 ton truck I was new to 5 tons, the truck was just out of rebuild and someone had put a shut off on the front service.
One day I was washing the truck to go to a show and I noticed the valve was open, Not thinking to much about it I closed it.
On the way into town I notice that the brakes were starting to drag. Well long story, BUT DO NOT CLOSE THE VALVE if your truck has one on the front service..

FWIW, I would save the old valves to tinker with. IIRC, the factory ones were brass and had lapped seats. Might be worth reworking.

Under it should be obvious but . . . Always use the "paddles" when the connection is not in use (connected to another vehicle). Middle of the night in middle of nowhere is a bad place to find out that the last guy didn't and now the gasket is missing.

And whatever you do, DO NOT - EVER, turn another owner's RF service valve off if they have one. NOT a fun practical joke to mess with someone's brakes.
