It’s a big fat maybe with a capital M as of right now, but a recruiter from Tesla found my LinkedIn profile the other day and wants to talk to me later on today about a job at the Gigafactory in Sparks.

Haven’t even gotten hired there yet, let alone interviewed with anyone, yet I’m already moving there in my head.
Guess that’s just the way I roll. :cookoo:

I'm in Hawthorne. We could meet up in Fallon and head over Hwy 80 and Donner pass and pick up BigMike and speedfellon, and then convoy on Hwy 5 to Lodi/Tower Park. I'll be going Sept. 17-23. If you haven't been there before you'll love it. And we'll be back at Tower Park in April of 2019. ALSO if you don't have a reservation call JoAnn Lesser ASAP at 408-238-8277. It's also easier to register and get a space if your a MVCC member. If your not, JoAnn Lesser can help you out.

That sounds like a plan! Donner seems intimidating but I think I climbed bigger coming out of Laramie or Wendover? Would Fernley be on your way....don't want you to backtrack?

On the reservation thing.....is it by space or?? I'm not a member of MVCC yet, gotta get that done.

Thanks for the replies....

The MVCC as promoter of the Tower Park meets will publish convoy info in our newsletter and on www.MVCCNews.net. We have a number of members in Nevada and on the way to and from Tower Park Resort. I will write this up or members can do it themselves. Consider posting on the Event forum here and on www.G503.com. Also on the MVCC forum over there. List the where, when, route stops, and who the contact person is (POC).

It is not necessary to be a MVCC member to attend the Spring and Fall swap meets but it helps when requesting sites or site changes, and many like to receive the newsletter to get inside info. In the case of the big April meet which is returning to Tower Park in 2019, there is a good reason to join the MVCC this year. More on that at the event link below. By the way, the Secretary is now accepting memberships on an anniversary month basis, not strictly by calendar year. This means people can join late in the year and still get 12 months of newsletters and member rights.

Details about the meet this September 18-23, 2018 at Tower Park Resort on Hwy 12 six miles west of I-5 near Lodi, CA is up on the Events forum. There are also some nuggets about the April 2019 Camp Delta at Tower Park meet there:

You probably did. Going West over Donner Pass there are a couple grades where I have to down shift to 4th, one of them is just before the Cal. State Inspection stop. Coming back going East, there are about 3 grades where I have to drop down to 3rd for a short distance. It's about 30mph, so just stay in the right lane with your flashers on. On the flat land I run 45 to 50mph., that way it's easier to keep the Convoy together, plus it saves wear and tear on the trucks.
I usually go north on 95 from Hawthorne to Fallon to Fernley, then West on 80 to Sparks/Reno over Donner Pass to Auburn to Sacramento, South on the 5 to Lodi, and West on 12 to Tower Park. When you speak with JoAnn Lesser about a space, ask her if she can get you a spot near Sonny Hanson. Sonny has a M135 and we try and keep all the big trucks together. If your married and your spouse would like to attend, please do so. speedfellon and BigMike bring their wives, and my wife will be there. I have our M105A2 converted to a camper as does speedfellon. BigMike and his wife will be staying at a B__ B__ Bungalow (cabin). But you can also pitch a tent. I have to warn you, if you go once, you'll want to go to every Spring and Fall.

Wow, sounds good. I was running 55 to 57 on the flats but I've got 395's on....and my RPM's don't work,lol.

The only change I would make is going South on 5. I'd take 99. It's a little slower of a road and dumps you in Lodi proper.

Well, I called the lady and left a message, no return call yet. The campsites are a little pricey....for camping that is.

We take the 5 because Tower Park is on hwy12 about 8mi west of the 5 on Potato Slough. If you come in on the 99 you have to navigate the Old Town of Lodi, lots of narrow streets and traffic signals. I convoyed home last Sept. with speedfellon going through Lodi to the 99, and it works for Alan as he is out in the Auburn/Grass Valley area. As for my return trip I like to just hop on the 5 and go, and in 8 to 10 hours I'm home, no stops except for fuel and lunch. Once you get out of Sacramento, the traffic on the 5 isn't to bad. Also your MVCC Membership will get you a discount on your campsite.

Just looking for others in the State of Nevada. It would be good to know where you're at what you have. I've know I've seen a few of you driving around in Reno; just wondering if you frequent this site? Matter of fact, it was July 4th, I was in my Deuce travelling North on Virginia headed to downtown Reno and you were in a Deuce going the other way! We surprised each other by our mere presence and blowing those air horns.

I've seen a few of you folks on here who are in the Southern Nevada area, but please check in anyway!

1. Where do you like go off road?
2. Do you participate in MV displays, parades, Veteran's events, etc?
3. Do you offer pick-up at the local area GL sites to help others?
4. Most important- what MV's do you have? :tank:
01. Finally got my M1025 registered in Reno so will be looking out for places to go. I have been traveling on some back roads near Boca Lake, CA.
02. I would like to participate but presently working overseas.
03. Not a problem, if I am in town.
04. M1025 4 door, slant back. Flat black color.

The Tower Park meets near Lodi were mentioned but the events are not there any more. Not enough room for the big April meet due to them shrinking number of campsites for more cabins and pull throughs. And both meets suffer from the corporate rules now being enforced against groups. Not their thing. No discounts or blocking of sites. And no tenting on the hookup sites, a deal killer for us.

A swing over to Petaluma KOA for the Spring meet didn't work well due to lack of visitor parking, primarily. Luckily we were able to move the April 2019 meet to Plymouth, northeast of Lodi in the gold country. This solves nearly every issue with past venues. The inaugural meet in April 2019 was the largest in 42 years! Over 300 sites rented. Tons of visitors too. We finally have enough parking. Themed showcases this year are Armored Vehicles, 2 1/2 Ton and Larger Trucks, and HMMWVs. It's April 14-19, 2020 with Tuesday being a set up day and Sunday a pull out day.

You Nevadans are lucky since it moved closer. From Carson City and south, Hwy 88 takes you to a road that goes right to Plymouth. US 50 has more passing lanes and from Placerville it's 20 miles south to Plymouth. From the Reno area, I-80 obviously has a slow lane all the way, plus some of the old US 40 paralleling it if you don't like freeways. At Auburn you go south on 49 to Plymouth. Scenic, and the gold discovery site in Coloma is a good stop.

Details about the April Camp Plymouth swap meet/show is on the Upcoming Events forum, and official news is on www.MVCCNews.net including a downloadable campsite reservation form to be used for BOTH campgrounds this time.

How about rounding up the Nevadans for a social gathering at a campsite? Or talk to MVCC management to see if the rec room is available for a meeting. We could put the meeting in the official schedule and mention it in the MVCC newsletter. Some of our 500 members live in Nevada. The rodeo arena next to our tent campground on the fairgrounds side of the meet would be a good place for a group MV photo. Look at the activities schedule when it goes up on www.MVCCNews.net for slot of time between the vehicle showcases. Tell the Activities Coordinator in case she knows of other planned uses for the arena.
